Review: Detergent for Puff and Sponge

I've been away for quite sometime. Matriarchal duties [among other things] has to come first and blogging had to take a backseat. But now I'm back... I hope on a regular basis this time :)

I came across this detergent (which by the way is also the product name). It is a sponge and puff cleaner. It's a japanese brand which I bought from Saizen in Trinoma. The bottle has Japanese characters all over it except for the word Detergent and some itsy-bitsy words in english which says:

Removes remaining foundation quickly
Keeps your makeup tools clean
Disinfects and fragrance-free
Contains no pigment
These words instantly caught my interest.

Pictures below says it all...

My uber filthy Beauty Blender

80ml bottle

Definitely worth a try

After  3 squirts and and some gentle swishing
My wet /dry foundation sponge

I approximately consumed twice this amount on this sponge. Note the colorless liquid in the middle of the sponge

VOILA!!! immaculate---- once again :)
Love:
  • It's soooo affordable! (85PhP) per 80ml bottle
  • It truly delivers its promise ... all of it!!
  • I like that it's not so sudsy, making it easy to rinse
  • Available locally ( 'tho I saw a few bottles left on the shelf)

Hate:
  • NONE!!
I strongly recommend this "heaven-sent" sponge and puff cleaner. Had I known about this before, I could have saved my first Beauty Blender. It was cut in half!! The OCness in me... rubbed it a bit too harsh 'cuz of foundation stains which are harrrrd to take off!! :-(

XOXO

Review: Sue Devitt Gel-to-Powder Blush

The blush I believe is the most indispensable part of a make up regimen. If  I'm in a rush and I don't have the luxury of time to do my face,  the first thing I'd grab is a blush.. be it a cheek tint, powder blush, whatever it is I can hold onto. There was even a time when I used my red lipstick to put color on my cheeks. I was about to go down from my car when I realized that my face was like a blank canvass and I was really running late. The blush in my kit was a shimmery pink and I thought it wouldn't look good if I put it on.... alone (since I don't have  time of  going through "the works"). So I had this bright idea of using my red lipstick to put a tinge of color to my pale face and a dab on the lips....Voila!! It instantly gave me that just-pinched healthy look ^_^. I know, I know it's not good for the skin... but it's just for emergency, You know, break- glass- in -case-of fire sort of thing. Haha!

Passing by Beauty Bar at Trinoma I caught a glimpse of  this poster of a girl looking so dewy and fresh sporting a cheek blush au naturale'...if you know what I mean. I wonder how many make up-loving women like me drooled over those cheeks! I lost no time and asked the SA, who by the was very accommodating. As if she read my mind, she handed me a tester of  Sue Devitt Gel -to-Powder-Blush and its LOVE....... and the rest so they say is history.

Sue de Vitt Says:

Gel-to-Powder Blush

Kelai

Malay Reef

Marion Reef

North Cape
This velvet to the touch gel-to-powder formula offers intense hydration with a sheer, smooth finish to impart a youthful glow and lasting wearability for all skin types. The revolutionary formulation contains Marine Collagen Filling Spheres which smooth out the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, creating a flawless complexion while ensuring a blendable, fool-proof application.

Shade: Malay Reef
ME Says:

Pros:
  • it glides on smoothly when applied
  • easy to blend
  • gives that nice pop of summery glow to the cheeks
  • color pay off is good
  • comes in a chic and small compact with mirror
  • lasted 4-5 hours on my cheeks on a humid day
  • available locally
  • has natural extracts beneficial to the skin

velvety smooth...
Cons:

  • quite pricey at 1,250PhP a pop
  • color has tendency to dissipate if you over blend it , a few tap and a little blending and you're good to go
  • if you're into matte blush then this is not for you (love it tho'!)

:
nice....

Will I repurchase? why not?  maybe a  different shade next time :)
Rate: 4.5/5

(akkkk.... foundation shade doesn't match!.. hehe)

I apply this with my bare clean fingers or you can use stippling brush but using a brush or any applicator may just cause the color to dissipate more..it's already light and satiny to begin with.

If you're looking for a  warm and natural glow on your cheeks specially for summer then you should give this a shot! *wink*

Happy Easter!

**
Let us not forget that it's not all about eggs and the easter bunny...  it's all about Christ dying for us to save our souls and coming back to life again to show us all that He is the God of all Gods, the Master of our lives, the Savior of our souls. Acts of sacrifices are not expected from us, all we need to do is to accept HIM in our hearts and confess that we are indeed sinners.. Kapatid (bros and sis), that's all!.... and once again, just like when we were babes.....we belong to HIM.

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!
HAIL TO THE RISEN KING!!

Glimpse: NYX 10 Color Eye Palette - The Runway Collection

After I attended Beauty Makeup course at Basement Academy, NYX kinda grew in me. I love everything NYX specially the eye shadows, lipsticks and lip glosses. Good thing angelic Sol of  Digital Traincase is around to cater to my NYX whims and caprices for the right price... thanks Sol! :) Palette is at 480PhP.

Here is a glimpse of the Runway Collection in Romance.  It is a convenient 10-color eye shadow palette in hues of bronzes and browns. Some shades (top part of the palette) have slightly chunky glitters  (which I can  take) while the rest are just shimmery.

(oooops... accidentally poked my finger on it)

This palette has warm bronze and browns that I really, really love! ^_^

How about you.... any favorite eye shadows or palettes? .... share :)

Review: Revlon Brow Fantasy, Max Factor Masterpiece Colour Precision Eyeshadow

I recently visited Mega Mall and made a side trip to the cosmetics department of SM (which is really part of my agenda whenever I got to the mall).. tee-hee ^_^

Here's what I got that day....

Revlon Brow Fantasy in Dark Brown (bottom) and
Max Factor Masterpiece Colour Precision Eyeshadow in Pearl Beige (top)

The Brow Fantasy is double ended. One end with a pencil to outline your brows while the other end has a wand (much like a mascara but smaller/thinner) to set your brows in place after filling it out with color. It's really helpful when your brows are bushy or grows in different directions, it acts as a brow tamer. It costs around P595.00 (not more than P600). This brow color comes in 3 shades ( I think.. haha!), light brown, dark brown ( which is what I got) and black.

The Pearl eyeshadow is creamy in consistency and it has that pearl sheen (which I love) when applied. It comes in a tube... much like a lipgloss, with a doe-foot applicator.. (did I get that right? ^_^) This eyeshadow is best used as color base to help your eyeshadow last. But of course it depends on what color your eye makeup will be. That's why I bought beige because it's the most versatile base color for eyeshadows. Price is 450Php - 495Php (sorry can't remember exact price). It is available in different shimmery shades... blue, green, purplish... but not that much variety of colors.

when rubbed to blend...

I must say this pearlies are worth every centavo... it's smudge/rub proof. The swatch I did above lasted until the next morning. It didn't budge at all! It only came off when I took a shower!... for real!

Overall, I'm happy with this purchase... glad i bought them, no regrets ^_^

New Blog Title

I thought of changing my blog title to Beyond Tightlining from Kikaymomster... I don't know... the former has a somewhat international tone than the latter. Besides, after my Beauty and Make-up Course at Basement Academy I somehow found a new awakening on make-up. Aside from learning how to apply it professionally I found sheer joy in putting on make-up just for the heck of it... yes! from base all the way to putting on falsies! : )

If you live and breath make-up then you know what tightlining is. If not, let me define it for you. Tightlining is applying eyeliner in the innermost part of the (upper) eyelids where your eye lashes sprout from. It is also known as the "invisible eye liner". Tightlining emphasizes your lash line, making it look like you have very thick lash base. Your eyes gain emphasis without an obvious trace of make-up. Tightlining is something everyone can do, you just need to practice. There!.....

I plan on pursuing what I learned from Basement Academy and eventually do it professionally... **crossing fingers**.

'Til then...

Review: Etude House Baby Skin Veiling Pact

This is the compact pressed powder that matches the Baby Skin Foundation (which I will review next) that I bought along with the rest of the Etude House stuff click here. The compact powder comes in 2 shades, #1 for VERY light complexion and #2 for light complexion. I got the #2, I think it's suits me since I have the matching foundation in #1.... you know, to balance the tone so I won't look like an espasol ( a Philippine delicacy that has powdered flour topping) ",) Being a Korean brand, Etude House don't have shades suited for morena or medium to brown-skinned gals.

Here is a rundown of things to love about it:
  • It comes in very cute and pink with-a-touch-of-Victorian package... a great addition to my makeup kit
  • It has SPF22 PA ++ (yayy!)
  • It has a nice feel and texture on the face when applied
  • Reasonably priced - I forgot how much it exactly is but I know it's between P300 and P400. I think it's the cheapest face powder they have.
  • It has that light scent of baby powder which I love!!

Things I don't like about it:
  • You have to re apply it every so often as it goes pfffft easily. But considering it's just a pressed powder, that's understandable.
  • It's a bit powdery when applied so I use a face brush instead of the velour puff that comes with it.
Will I buy again ?
Probably not...for the reason that there's a whole lot of powders to try out there to last me a lifetime! '',)

Hope this review helps! 'Til then...

Etude House Beauty Finds

I got to check out Etude House in Mega Mall after the holidays. The ambiance of the shop made the shopaholic in me all jittery :) It's a small space actually but with VERY bright lights and pink and girly all over. What really got me excited about it are the affordable price tags!! It's waaaay cheaper than other Korean stores like The Face Shop and Skin Food.... and after a week or two of trying out their products, I can say it's not bad. Most of the stuff I got were really nice :)

Above is actually Haulage #2 (just got mixed up with the uploading)
From the top:
Proof 10 Eye Primer (this is good!)
Lip Brush
Sleeping Pack (night cream of some sort)
Baby Skin Veil (compact pressed powder)
So Lovely Allover Spray (scent)

Haulage #1
Blush highlighter (shimmery)
Tint Chou Lip Tint (red)
Mascara Guide
Baby Skin Foundation (really nice)

The Baby Skin Veil compact (haulage #2) is the matching pressed powder of the Baby Skin Foundation (top)

I've noticed that Etude House foundations and powders are for fair-skinned gals only. Most, if not all of them come in 2 tones only, for very fair skin and medium skin (which I still find too light for morena skin). Come to think of it.... are there medium-tone skinned Koreans?

I will do a separate review of these goodies soon. Any suggestions what you like reviewed first? Lemme' know!! :)

'Til then...
XOXO

NYX Holiday Haul

H A P P Y N E W Y E A R ! ! ! !

I've been MIA for quite sometime. A lot of things happened...some good, a few bad.. but overall everything is A-ok! Facebook has taken much of my time the past holiday season... menn... talk about addiction... I really got hooked, big time! :)

Now, now, let's not talk about that here..

One thing I was really, really glad about last holiday season was my NYX haul. No, I didn't get it all at one time...

NYX Round Lipstick (L-R) tea rose, milan, thalia, indian pink & B52
Rouge Cream Blush in Glow (left) & Natural (right)
Round Lip Gloss in Ballerina Pink (top) & Kiss (bottom)*MY FAVE*

NYX Cream Rouge in Glow (left) & Natural (right)

Swatch of Glow (top) & Natural (bottom)

Both colors give a natural glow on the cheeks. Glow just a bit intense than Natural, but I LOVE both! I apply it with my elf studio line foundation brush or with my bare (clean) fingers when I'm in a rush.

In case you want to get a hold of stuff like these, you can order here

'Til then!

xoxo
